In another roster move affecting a Blue Jay from last season the Texas Rangers have claimed Joe Inglett on waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays as confirmed by a press release on the Texas Rangers official website.

Inglett, a popular but under used player for the Jays has been added to the Rangers 40 man roster.

Inglett batted .281 (25-89) with 4 doubles, one triple and 6 RBI in 36 games for the Blue Jays in 2009.

Inglett has a career .293 average in 211 games with the Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays.

The versatile Inglett has made big league starts at second base, third base, and shortstop, as well as every outfield position.

Inglett owns a .985 fielding percentage as an infielder in his major league career.

Inglett spent most of last season with Toronto’s Triple-A affiliate Las Vegas 51’s, batting .360 with 3 home runs, 14 doubles, and 25 RBI.

Inglett has a career .307 average in the minor leagues, including a .372 average in the minors over the past two seasons.

Inglett has 18 career stolen bases in the Major Leagues as well.

Ingeltt was originally selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 8th round of the 2000 First Year Player draft and was acquired by the Blue Jays on a waiver claim September 14th 2007.

Deemed “Mighty” Joe Inglett by fans in Toronto, the hard nosed gritty Inglett is yet another fan favorite to depart from Toronto, joining Marco Scutaro who signed a two year deal with the Boston Red Sox earlier today, pending a physical.
