With what looks to be the biggest announcement of the offseason coming today at 4:00pm EST the Toronto Blue Jays franchise will be completely transformed.

The three team transaction involving former Cy Young Award winners Roy Halladay & Cliff Lee is set to be announced at 4:00pm EST today.

As it stands the deal is the following:

To Toronto Blue Jays:
Kyle Drabek
Travis d’Arnaud
Michael Taylor

To Philadelphia Phillies:
Roy Halladay
$6 million from Blue Jays
Phillippe Aumont
Tyson Gillies
Juan Ramirez

To Seattle Mariners:
Cliff Lee

It has been rumored once the Jays acquire Michael Taylor from the Phillies he will be flipped to the Oakland Athletics for third baseman Brett Wallace.

Based on this huge move I thought it would be a good idea to show readers exactly what the Jays have done so far this offseason to completely change the way the team looks for 2010, just in case anyone has missed anything.

Below is a transaction list with details on how the Jays obtained said player as of today (The Jays signed pitcher Lance Broadway to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training this morning):

Alex Gonzalez – Free Agent – one year @ $2.75 million with option year in 2011 @ $2.5 million

Joey Gathright – Free Agent – minor league deal

Raul Chavez – Free Agent (Played for Jays last season but was non-tendered) – minor league deal

John Buck – Free Agent – one year @ $2 million

Ramon Castro – Free Agent – one year deal worth close to $1 million, not finalized

Lance Broadway – Free Agent – minor league deal

Zech Zinicola – Rule 5 Addition

Ruben De La Rosa – Rule 5 Addition

Jarrett Hoffpauir – Claimed off waivers

Mike McCoy – Claimed off waivers

Sean Henn – Claimed off waivers

Once Halladay trade is complete:

Kyle Drabek
Travis d’Arnaud
Michael Taylor (who will be flipped to Oakland for Brett Wallace)

So far Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos is doing exactly as he promised by changing the way the team looks as a whole, while adding younger controllable players as well as low end veterans to hold down the fort until our farm system prospects are ready for a jump to the big leagues.

In this writer’s opinion it has been good work so far from Anthopoulos and I hope it continues.

As I mentioned earlier prepare yourself for Roy Halladay becoming the newest member of the National League Champion Phillies this afternoon when the trade is to be announced at a rumored time of 4:00pm EST.
