The Toronto Blue Jays remain busy this offseason under new general manager Alex Anthopoulos.
The Jays have added infielder Mike McCoy to their 40 man roster a day after claiming the 28 year old off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.
McCoy appeared in 12 games for the Rockies last season only getting to the plate for five total at bats. He did not record a hit. McCoy did steal two bases, scoring one run at the major league level.
McCoy spent the majority of the 2009 season with Triple A Colorado Springs.
In 132 games split between third base and shortstop the right handed hitting McCoy hit .307 with 2HR & 52RBI with 27 doubles and 102 runs scored.
He also stole 40 bases and had an on base percentage of .405.
The Jays also added Brian Dopirak to their 40 man roster.
The former big time prospect in the Chicago Cubs organization had a tremendous minor league season last year where he hit .317 with 27HR & 102RBI along with 42 doubles across 139 games split between Double A New Hampshire and Triple A Las Vegas.
For his amazing minor league performance the 25 year old Dopirak earned an R.Howard Webster Award as Toronto’s most valuable player at the Double A level.
