The Toronto Blue Jays have ended their search for a new team president and CEO by appointing the man who already had the job on an interim basis.

Paul Beeston, the loveable Toronto favorite who has positive history with the ball club was named Blue Jays president & CEO today.

Tony Viner, President and CEO of Rogers Media had this to say about the move.

“Paul Beeston was appointed interim CEO in October 2008 and we began an exhaustive search process for a permanent candidate. While we interviewed a number of highly qualified individuals for the position, Paul’s unique set of qualities made him our clear first choice,”

“While Paul was initially appointed on an interim basis, he approached the role with his usual high energy and conviction to set the club up for success – something he’s now committed to do for the long term.”

This is yet another front office move made by a Blue Jays team that seems to be completely overhauling every aspect in regards to the big shots up stairs.

The move is the largest of its nature and should affect the team for years to come.

The role is a familiar one for Beeston, who was the first employee hired by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1976, eventually being named team president and CEO in 1991.

Beeston held the role until leaving to become the chief operating officer of Major League Baseball in 1997.

I know that not only Toronto Blue Jays fans, but baseball fans all across the sport support the decision made by Beeston to take on the role, as Beeston is a great baseball minded person who will only help the dwindling franchise in Toronto.

Rogers Media, congratulations on making an outstanding move and let’s hope that Beeston can help aid new general manager Alex Anthopoulos in building a contender in Toronto.
