Why is BJ Ryan still pitching in the Major Leagues?
The Toronto Blue Jays have just completed a 9 game road trip with one of the worst pieces of crap losses I have ever witnessed as a fan.
The Jays, behind yet another outstanding outing from Roy Halladay took a 8-3 lead into the 8th inning, and Cito Gaston decided to sit Halladay after 102 pitches.
All Toronto Blue Jay fans know 100 pitches is not a day’s work for Halladay, as he has normally stretched himself to 120 pitches consistently, and actually has admitted in past interviews that he would prefer to close out all his own games.
Cito Gaston went to the bullpen and relievers Jesse Carlson and new closer Scott Downs blew our 5 run lead.
Hey, at least there is extra innings right?
Jason Frasor pitched us threw 2 scoreless innings, and Toronto’s own MVP Aaron Hill crushed a 2 run home run off of Danys Baez, to take a 10-8 lead in the top of the 11th.
That had to be enough to finally end this 8 game losing streak right?

Miss Cleo. Please release this terrible curse you have cast on the Blue Jays.
Nope, BJ Ryan (who shouldnt be playing major league baseball right now, since I know high school ball players with more velocity than he currently has) and Brian Wolfe (a reliever who has never closed out a game in his career and is known for leaving pitches up in the strike zone) both proceed to lose the game 12-10.
This losing streak is no longer a losing streak in my eyes, this is some sort of voodoo curse placed upon us by Miss Cleo (remember her psychic infomercials? Call me now!). This does not happen in baseball.
Thankfully, the Jays are only 2.5 games behind the division leading Boston Red Sox, with Boston coming into the Rogers Centre (Skydome to anyone who actually lives in Toronto) for a 3 game set this weekend.
The Jays need to end this streak fast, and there would be no better way to end it than with a sweep of Boston to regain our lead in the AL East.
I’ll be at the game this Friday, screaming NANCY DREW at the top of my lungs from the right field stands at my favorite 100 million dollar man, J.D Drew.
If this losing streak continues expect to see another very large rant (kind of like this) as my next article.
