The 9 game losing streak is over!

High fives a plenty for the Toronto Blue Jays after finally ending the 9 game losing streak

Coming into Toronto for their series on Friday against the Boston Red Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays had lost 9 straight games, all on the road.

The last team you want to be facing is the Boston Red Sox, the team that swept us originally to begin the 9 game losing streak.

I attended the game on Friday evening where Casey Janssen’s stellar performance, along with Scott Rolen’s bat helped the Jays to a 6-3 win. The crowd was electric and the right field bleacher bums joined me in persistent NANCY DREW heckles. Even though he will never admit it, we could see the single tear running down Nancy’s cheek in right field.

Finally, the Jays had ended one of the worst losing streaks in Blue Jays history.

Saturday, the Jays continued the stellar play against the Red Sox. After a few shaky innings, starting pitcher Brian Tallet recovered from 4 walks in the first two innings, to turn things around and shut down the Red Sox, along with new 8th inning man Brandon League, and closer Scott Downs in a 5-3 win.

Today’s game against the Red Sox did not go so well. Jon Lester absolutely dominated the Blue Jays by setting a career high in strikeouts with 12, while the Toronto pitching staff was less than stellar. Boston took the final game of the 3 game series 8-2 in dominating fashion.

2 out of 3 games won, and taking the series from Boston is still a great positive for the Jays, who were struggling.

We currently remain 1.5 games back of the New York Yankees for 1st place in the AL East, with Boston sandwiched between us and the Yankees.

After a day off tomorrow, we have a 3 game series against the struggling LA Angels of Anaheim.

Our thoroughbred starter Roy Halladay has the ball on Tuesday, so I expect a good matchup against an impressive lefty in that of Anaheim’s Joe Saunders.

Can’t wait because the boys are back in town!
